Sales Manager – Eco Retreat

General description

This position will be focal point of contact for all sales activity for the retreat. This person will be responsible for all aspects of the sales department. The entire sales function (people, processes and results) will be headed by this person.

 

Specific tasks

Travel agents(TA)

  • Meeting the top TA’s in and marketing the leisure and wellness programmes.
  • Meeting the top TA’s and presenting the retreat for both corporate and FIT business.
  • Initiating, negotiating and finalizing rate contracts with the TA’s.
  • Nurturing the relationship with the TA’s to ensure that business continues to flow through to us.
    •  Presenting proposals, following up on them, closing the sale, and ensuring all money is collected in advance.

Corporates

  • Meeting corporate and marketing the leisure and wellness programmes.
  • Meeting corporates and presenting the retreat for conferencing, board meetings, trainings, off sites and day outs.
  • Initiating, negotiating and finalizing rate contracts with all corporates, after identifying the decision maker and recommending individuals/groups.
  • Nurturing the relationship with the key people at the corporates to ensure that business continues to flow through to us.
  • Presenting proposals, following up on them, closing the sale, and ensuring all money is collected in advance.

 Pricing

Keeping a tab on the pricing in the market and advising the retreat management on our own pricing

New channels

Developing new channels of business for the retreat on a continuous basis. These may include airlines, consulates, weddings, etc.

Operational coordination

Ensuring a seamless coordination with operations. Getting feedback from clients and ensuring that the feedback is acted upon by operations.

 

Inventory maintenance and guest movement

Supervising the inventory maintenance system and the reservation system

People

This position will have a sales coordinator reporting to it. The Sales Manager will be responsible for all training and supervision of the performance of these people..

Skill sets needed

Experience

  • Experience in the hospitality industry doing a similar function will be an advantage. Work experience- 7 to 10 years
  • Relationships with TA’s and corporate in Bangalore and other major states in India.
  • Good experience in negotiating and monitoring contracts with TA’s and Corporates.

Soft skills

  • The person should be mature, articulate with the ability to converse easily in English. Knowledge of any other languages will be an advantage.
  • The person should have the maturity to deal with the senior most levels in all organizations.
  • The person should be extremely organized, disciplined.
  • While the person should be a stickler for process, they should have the maturity to be able to judge when to be flexible also.
  • Strong people skills will be necessary to ensure that the team is motivated and enthused to deliver the results.
  • A strong numbers person, this person should be financially savy.

Technical skills

  • In depth knowledge of computers (e mail, explorer, excel, word, power point) critical.
  • Knowledge and experience of hospitality industry reservation software is necessary.
